Custom 3D lobby signs in acrylic, metal, PVC, and foam for Silicon Valley tech companies and corporate offices. Design, fabrication, and installation by our local San Jose team.
Exterior dimensional letter installations in San Jose require a sign permit. We handle submittals via SJPermits.org and prepare landlord approval packages before fabrication begins.

Dimensional letters are three-dimensional individual characters — cut or fabricated from a solid material, finished, and mounted directly to a wall surface. Unlike a flat printed sign or a vinyl decal, dimensional letters have physical depth — typically ½" to 2" — which creates shadow lines that make the sign read more clearly at a distance and communicate a level of permanence and quality that flat graphics simply can't match.
For Silicon Valley tech companies, the lobby sign is often the first physical impression a customer, investor, or new hire gets of your brand. Dimensional letters in brushed metal, polished acrylic, or precision-painted foam signal that this is a company that takes its brand seriously. The Exnodes installation above — fabricated in brushed aluminum with a three-dimensional logo structure — is a good example of what's achievable when material, finish, and fabrication quality are all dialed in.
We fabricate dimensional signs in-house and through our fabrication partners, working from your existing logo files. No permit is required for interior lobby signs in California, which keeps the timeline clean — most dimensional letter projects are designed, fabricated, and installed within 3–5 weeks from approved proof.
The right material depends on your wall surface, your brand aesthetic, your budget, and how the sign will be lit — or not lit. Here's a clear breakdown of every option.
The most versatile dimensional letter material. Clear, white, black, or custom color — available in flat cut, beveled edges, or with a polished face. Acrylic letters can be painted to any color, left in their natural translucent state, or used with LED backlighting for a halo effect. Clean, sharp, and durable.
Flat-cut metal letters are CNC-routed from aluminum, stainless steel, or brass sheet. Finish options include brushed, polished, anodized, or powder-coated in any color. Metal letters communicate the highest level of permanence and quality — the material choice for executive reception areas, financial services, and flagship tech company lobbies. As seen in the Exnodes installation above.
Rigid PVC board, also known as Sintra, is a lightweight alternative to acrylic — easier to fabricate in complex shapes and paintable to any color. Slightly less premium feel than acrylic or metal, but cost-effective for larger letter sizes and complex custom logo cuts. Interior-only application.
High-density urethane foam routed to shape and painted — the best choice for very large-format dimensional logos and signs where weight is a concern. HDU is strong enough to take a painted finish that holds up indoors, light enough to mount on standard drywall without structural backing. Common for oversized dimensional installations like the Fujitsu and Cohere logos shown above.
Some complex logo shapes — like the Fujitsu Solutions Lab sign above — are built from multiple materials in combination: foam for the base structure, acrylic for letter faces, metal accents. The final product is painted in your exact brand colors for a seamless, cohesive look that matches your logo at any scale.
Cast aluminum plaques from Gemini Sign Products — our authorized reseller relationship gives us access to Gemini's full catalog of cast aluminum letters, plaques, and dimensional sign systems. Cast aluminum offers a distinct, permanent character that flat-cut metal can't replicate — the material of choice for institutional plaques, building directories, and permanent identification signs.
The mounting method affects how the sign looks on the wall — each has a distinct visual character and installation requirement.
Letters mount flat against the wall surface — clean, minimal, and works on any wall type including textured surfaces. The simplest installation method and the lowest profile look. Common for acrylic and PVC letters in clean corporate interiors.
Letters are mounted on metal standoff pins — typically ¾" to 2" out from the wall. This creates a visible shadow behind each letter that changes with the ambient lighting, giving the sign a three-dimensional presence even when viewed straight-on. The most popular mounting style for dimensional letter signs in Silicon Valley offices.
LED modules are mounted behind the letters — facing the wall rather than forward. The light reflects off the wall and creates a glow around each letter. The letters themselves appear as solid material (typically brushed metal or acrylic) while the halo effect provides illumination. Creates the most premium visual impact, especially in dimmer lobby environments.
We've fabricated and installed dimensional letter signs for some of Silicon Valley's best-known companies. Here's what distinguishes our work.
Most sign shops fabricate in one or two materials and steer every project toward what they know. We work across acrylic, metal, PVC, HDU foam, and cast aluminum — and we'll tell you honestly which material is the right fit for your wall, your brand aesthetic, your budget, and your timeline. Sometimes that's a $400 PVC sign; sometimes it's a $4,000 brushed aluminum installation. We'll be direct about the difference.
We take your logo files, produce a scaled wall mockup for approval, coordinate fabrication, and install. The mockup step matters — dimensional letters look different at full scale on a real wall than they do in a PDF proof. We catch layout issues before anything is fabricated so you're not discovering problems on installation day.
Lobby sign projects occasionally require a site visit before quoting — especially for complex wall surfaces like the textured tile in the Fujitsu installation, or for oversized dimensional structures that require wall anchor planning. We're based in San Jose and can schedule a site visit across Silicon Valley. No travel fees, no long lead times for scheduling.
Most dimensional letter projects are complete from approved proof to installed sign in 3–5 weeks. No permit is required for interior California lobby signs, which removes the biggest timeline variable. For tenant improvement projects with a move-in date, we work backward from your deadline to confirm the schedule before taking your deposit.

Interior brand statements for retail concepts, hotel lobbies, and restaurant entrances — dimensional letters that make a visual impact from the moment guests enter.
Building identification, department signage, and donor recognition plaques for private schools, training centers, and institutional facilities across Silicon Valley.
Companies that order dimensional letters typically also need some of these.
Most dimensional letter projects follow this process — typically 3–5 weeks from first conversation to installed sign.
We visit your San Jose or Silicon Valley office to assess the wall — surface type, structural backing, ambient lighting, and sight lines from the entrance. This is where we recommend material and mounting style based on what will actually look best in your specific space.
We take your vector logo files, size the sign to the correct scale for your wall dimensions, and produce a photo-realistic mockup showing the sign on your actual wall. This step prevents surprises — you see exactly what you're approving before fabrication begins.
Letters and logo elements are CNC-cut, routed, or cast — then finished, painted, or polished to your specs. Typical fabrication time is 2–3 weeks depending on material and complexity. We quality-check every piece before scheduling installation.
Our install team mounts the sign — letters level, spacing consistent, anchored correctly for the wall type. For standoff mounts we pre-drill to studs or use appropriate wall anchors. For halo-lit signs we coordinate the low-voltage LED wiring. Install is typically completed in a half day. You don't need to vacate the office.
